Subject: 08.08.25 Postdoctoral researcher - Drug design and protein-protein interactions - Univ. of Bergen, Norway

A postdoctoral position in molecular modeling is available
at the Computational Biology Unit, in the group of Nathalie Reuter
(http://www.cbu.uib.no/research/reuter).

In the recent years, one of the groups research focus has been the
serine proteases of the polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN). These enzymes
are highly homologous, yet they seem to accomplish very distinct
physiological functions. We have used a collection of molecular modelling
tools to investigate different aspects of their structure-function
relationship (substrate specificity, membrane binding, interaction
with other partners proteins). The successful candidate will have
the freedom to choose his/her research direction within the scope
of this project and will be encouraged to develop all the skills
required for a future independent research career. The project will
be conducted in close collaboration with our international network
of collaborators (chemists, biophysicists and molecular biologists).
We are looking for excellent candidates with a strong background in
theoretical biophysics and molecular modelling (PhD in theoretical biology,
chemistry or biophysics). Extensive experience with molecular modelling
tools in general and molecular dynamics simulations in particular is
required. Experience in normal modes analysis, docking methods,
predictions of protein-protein interactions will be a strong advantage.

For more information please contact group leader Nathalie Reuter,
Computational Biology Unit, by phone +47 555 84040 or e-mail
(nathalie.reuter^^cbu.uib.no).

The position is available as soon as a candidate can start.
