Subject : 2007 Gordon-Kenan Graduate Research Seminar in Organometallic Chemistry
Dear colleague,
I would like to bring to your attention that the first Gordon-Kenan Graduate Seminar in Organometallic Chemistry will be held at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI from July 6-8, 2007.
We invite graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from all areas of organometallic research to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations before April 27, 2007.
This seminar is aimed at providing graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with their own venue in which to present and discuss current research in organometallic chemistry. The program will explore a broad range of topics and relevant trends in organometallic chemistry, similar to that of the regular Gordon conference. Friday night opens with two keynote speakers; Christopher Cummins (MIT) and Emilio Bunel (Amgen). Saturday's program will be student/postdoctoral talks and posters. The conference will finish on Sunday morning with additional student talks and a round table discussion on career opportunities in this multifaceted area of research. The full program is available at
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2007&program=grad_org .
We expect participation of 30-40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and we hope that the large majority will remain for the GRC in Organometallic Chemistry that follows (July 8-13th, 2007). Acceptance to the Graduate Research Seminar will be based on a one-page submitted abstract. The top 13 abstracts submitted before April 27, 2007, will be selected for oral presentations and the remainder will be asked to present posters. Please apply on-line at the above web site. (Please note that you must apply separately for the GRC at
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2007&program=orgmet.)
We would also greatly appreciate it if you would spread the word to your colleagues, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows about this upcoming meeting, as it is critical to have good attendance and a wide distribution of attendees to build a strong base on which this conference can grow. Questions can be directed to the conference chairs, Nora Radu (
Nora.S.Radu@usa.dupont.com), and Elizabeth Mader (
madere@u.washington.edu).
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Nora Radu and Elizabeth Mader
